Bryan Mitchell - Michigan Landscape Photographer

Dsc 7404

Bryan Mitchell has been a professional photographer for 35 years, capturing life, struggle, beauty and triumph throughout metro Detroit and around Michigan. For all of his career, he has worked as a photojournalist for publications such as The Detroit News, The Detroit Free Press, The Guardian (US), Bloomberg News, AP Images, Velo News and Make-A-Wish Foundation of Michigan.

His photography has appeared in newspapers and magazines across North America and around the globe. Bryan has also become a sought after portrait and public relations photographer.

In October, 2016, Bryan spent three weeks photographing Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula (the UP) as the parks Artist in Residence. Traveling to the northern Michigan for camping and photographing the wonderment of the UP has become one of his passions - though most of that work is done for personal fulfillment, as a relaxing experience with no pressures or deadlines to meet. Bryan also enjoys riding mountain bikes. He is married with two children.

Bryan is proud to support "Keep the U.P. Wild" a coalition of environmental, outdoor recreation, academic, political, and business organizations working to advance new Wilderness areas in the Upper Peninsula. Michigan’s Upper Peninsula is a place like no other. Its most pristine places—including the Ehlco area, the Trap Hills, Norwich Plains, and the Sturgeon River Gorge—deserve our nation’s highest level of protection.

Some of my favorite images have come from areas like the Trap Hills that Keep the U.P. wilds is working to protect as a wilderness area. More info: https://www.keeptheupwild.com
